About
I'm Sayed, a fourth-year computer engineering student at Abu Dhabi University. I started out wondering how websites were made and have been building things for over four years since, first websites, then backends, then the hardware those backends talk to.
Most of my work sits where software meets the physical world. In summer 2026 I interned at TAQA Distribution's Water Control Centre, learning the chain from 4–20 mA field instruments through RTUs and PLCs to SCADA, while building a field reporting platform for their maintenance crews. At university I've built a self-driving RC car, an IoT waste sorter and a sumo robot.
My strongest side is the backend: APIs that validate everything, sessions that can be revoked, uploads that are checked by content rather than by name, and tests around the paths that matter. I ship the clients too: Next.js dashboards, React Native and Flutter apps, and one app through App Store review.
I use AI tools the way I use any other tool, to move faster on the well-understood parts. Everything I ship I read, understand and review, with security in particular.
Outside coursework I take on freelance projects, and I'm usually tinkering with embedded boards or a robot that should help around the house.

Software Engineering Intern
TAQA Distribution Company, Water Control Centre, Al Ain, UAE
Seven-week internship (322 hours) hosted by the Water Control Centre, the facility that continuously monitors and remotely operates the potable water distribution network. Followed the control chain from field instruments up to SCADA, and in parallel designed and built a full-stack field operations reporting platform for the Maintenance and Field Operations department.
- Built a React Native (Expo) mobile app, a Node.js/Express/Prisma/MongoDB backend and a Next.js supervisor dashboard with a real-time Socket.IO map
- Hardened the backend: JWT with token-version revocation, presigned private S3 photo access, content-based upload validation, Zod validation, layered rate limiting
- Wrote 196 automated tests across the three components (Jest, React Testing Library, Supertest)
- Studied field instrumentation (4–20 mA loops, pressure transmitters, electromagnetic flow meters), RTU/PLC selection, the IEC 62443 five-level SCADA architecture with OT/IT segregation, pump station hydraulics and water-loss accounting
